Seeds of Change: A Ballast Flora Garden (Utrecht), 2021/2022.

Site-specific installation

Seeds of Change: A Ballast Flora Garden (Utrecht) was realised in the context of the exhibition De Botanische Revolutie / The Botanical Revolution, a group exhibition curated by Heske ten Cate, Eva Burgering and Laurie Cluitmans at Centraal Museum Utrecht, Netherlands in 2021/2022 where Alves installed the Seeds of Change: Liverpool work. Seeds of Change: A Ballast Flora Garden (Utrecht) is based on research into the history of the city and its intimate links to the slave trade and the colonization of America which resulted in much ballast  being transported from the former colonies to the city port.
