Light Intensity Map. Standing on Olympiaberg Facing East/Southeast Munich, 1998
Original coal drawingoal
127x357 cm
Light Intensity Map is an element of the project 0° 0°° which was an attempt to arrive at the center of the world, the point where the Equator crosses the Prime Meridian, off the northwest coast of Africa. This attempt at arriving at a specific point led me to the process of placing the place I am in.
Light Intensity Map is a drawing, charting the brightness profile of lights in Munich. Triangulating from stars involves studying the intensity of their light. In a city buildings, bright lights, cloudy weather and other obstacles make it difficult to study the stars. I walk around the streets of Munich and study its lights and their characteristics and notate their intensity.
