The blue one is called Shaushka - an ancient Mediterranean deity of not only fertility but also of success in business and for protection and healing as well as providing illumination and transcendence. The red one is Inanna - an ancient Mesopotamian deity not only of love, sex and beauty but also of political power, justice and war.
With these works, Alves questions the limitations of contemporary gendering.
