------
In the early twentieth century, Bruno Rudolph, a German who lived in Brazil, made a German/Krenak dictionary. Centuries of deliberate genocide committed first by the Portuguese and later the Brazilians as well as devastating cultural policies against indigenous culture, has resulted in the decimation of the language Krenak language The Krenaks seeing this dictionary online, realized that it could contribute to the revitalization of their language. They requested that Alves translate the dictionary from the German into Portuguese so that their language could return to the Krenaks.
