Pedro de las Pedras, 2011
Installation
An investigation of the political life of Senhor Pedro who, as a result of the military coup of 1964 in Brazil which ended democracy, was forced to flee his job and union presidency when soldiers came to arrest him. He then moved to Ubatuba where he became an underpaid stone worker and continued to be a political organizar.
The text as well as the rhythm of the song, Pedro das Pedras, is written by Alves with the idea that each time this work is exhibited that a new musical group will give their interpretation of the song which will then be sent to Senhor Pedro’s family to play for the neighbors to hear.
